Beef Roast Pot recipe

Every home cook needs a classic pot roast recipe served with gravy, carrots and potatoes!

This easy recipe is great for beginners and delivers amazing results every time! Chuck roasts are inexpensive cuts of beef that are cooked in the oven at a low temperature for a few hours. Add a handful of veggies and some delicious herbs for the perfect meal.

Similar to Mississippi pot roast that’s made in a slow cooker, this pot roast is made in the oven, but the pot can also be roasted in an Instant Pot if you have one!

Pot roasting is an instant favorite in any home! Not only are they easy to assemble, but they make great grilled sandwiches as leftovers, or folded into rolls or pita bread. Serve this delicious recipe over mashed potatoes with homemade garlic bread.

* Ingredients

° 2 kg / 4 lbs roast beef, cabbage (note 1)

° 1 teaspoon each salt and pepper

° 2 tablespoons olive oil 

° 1 onion (large), cut into large cubes

° 5 garlic cloves, peeled and mashed (Note 2a)

° 5 carrots, peeled and cut into 2.5 cm/inch pieces

° 3 celery stalks, cut into 4cm/1.5in pieces

° 1 cup (250 ml) dry red wine (with beef broth)

° 3 cups (750 ml) reduced-salt beef broth

° 1/3 cup (50 g) flour (regular/all-purpose) (GF – Note 2B)

° 1 teaspoon dried rosemary

° 1 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

° 750 g / 1.5 lb potatoes, peeled and diced 2.5 cm

* Instructions :

Drying meat wiith paper towels. Sprinkling with salt & pepper all over.
Life oil in a frying pan over high heat. DARK BROWN EVERYWHERE – The deep dark brown rind is essential for the flavor base! It must take about 9 min .

Transfering beef to slow cooker.In skillet, adding onions & garlic. Cook for 4 min TO onions turnning brown.

Adding wine, reduce by half. Transfering to slow cooker .Mix the flour and about 1 cup of the broth. The blocks are fine. Pour into slow cooker.

Adding rest broth / carrots /  celery, rosemary, & thyme to slow cooker.
 Covering cook slowly for 5 h. 

Adding potatoes and cook over low heat for 3 hours. (10 min pressure cooker on HIGH, Note 3b)Remove the meat. Rest for 5 minutes, then cut it into thick slices.

Adjust salt and pepper in the sauce to taste.
